Hi im going to be building a new Pc this weekend, i was wondering what do you have to do on first bootup like installing OS, Stress test it first or install drivers first?
first i enter the Bios and make sure the system us set to AHCI, ram timings and voltage are set correctly and CPU voltage is set correctly. save then reboot and rum Memtest86+ for 11 passes to make sure ram is stable. Next i install the OS then drivers then stress test the CPU using both prime95 and Intel Burn Test, just not at the same time. Once proven stable then I stress the GPU if it has a dedicated card. then I connect to the internet and update the drivers from the motherboard manufactures web site. then I update windows and register windows.
Install drivers then do stress tests, without them the system won't be able to fully control your hardware. Exception being RAM which you can test before installing OS with memtest86+.
Also make sure to setup BIOS the way you want it before installing OS, RAM profiles and specially Sata mode (AHCI RAID or whatever you intend to use).
install the operating system first, then drivers, then updates.then play with it for a while, perform any performance tweaks etc.if it hasnt crashed by then you can run your stress tests.is this computer overclocked or is it stock?
Hi tom liu,
Windows first
Install all drivers this is a must to make sure all of your hardware is working correctly
When it is all working and all drivers up to date then you can stress your cpu or gpu etc
first i enter the Bios and make sure the system us set to AHCI, ram timings and voltage are set correctly and CPU voltage is set correctly. save then reboot and rum Memtest86+ for 11 passes to make sure ram is stable.
