What to do when buttons are not pressing repeatedly on keyboard

Hello,
when i am writing something in notepad or any where else my butons are not being pressed repeatedily.

I'm afraid that that did not translate well.

If you mean that holding down a key does not cause the character to be entered repeatedly, go into Control Panel - Keyboard and fiddle with the Repeat settings.

If you mean that when you type on the keyboard nothing is entered into Notepad or whatever, try a new keyboard.

Go into control panel, Keyboard options and test it in there, if its the same in there I would reccomend trying a different USB slot or re-install the drivers.

wow >2600 posts and i've never seen you before, ever, and you've given good advice, thanks for giving me a little more confidence back that there are some others on here that know what they are talking about, or can have sensible guesses. This is meant in all sincerity by the way.

This happened to one of my boxes yesterday. A cold boot fixed it.

I have narrowed my focus to BIOS / OS / hard drive issues, so I'm usually over on the Storage forum. Curiously, I see more core OS installation question there then in the OS configuration-and-customization forums. No idea why.

I think people see the bios/hdd as being the source of the problems.

I more of a generalist, working off the recent posts list.
