My cousin recently bought a CPU when he was told it would make his computer run faster, however it had the wrong socket. I currently have no laptops that can fit the processor. It is an i5-3320M clocked at 2.6GHz (3.3GHz Max Turbo) with a 3MB Cache that he bought for $160 on eBay. I thought about selling it and maybe breaking even or making a profit but that doesn't seem that it's possible to break even right now. I also thought about getting a Laptop with a burnt out CPU that could fit the G2 Socket but I haven't been able to find any on eBay and was wondering if anyone knew of a place I could get a laptop that has a burnt out or no processor that has a G2 Socket.

Thanks

Hi,

Sadly most defective laptop you will find are laptop with dead motherboard...

The only thing you could do is is get a cheap laptop with a core i3 that can be upgraded to core i5 or put it on ebay for auction and hope to get some money back out of it.

Laptop are not made for upgrade and such, always keep that in mind before buying parts to upgrade it.

Thanks for such a great idea, it never occured to me before to upgrade a working laptop! But the only question is what to do with the i3 processor after I do that. Also if I do this and sell the i3 processor then the Laptop upgraded with the i5 will I break even? Make a profit? or lose money?
