I currently have 2x 8gb DDR4 corsair vengeance pro premium sticks and I got 2 more of the same ones from a friend that upgraded his. Will it be beneficial if I put those 2 extra ones in with my current sticks?

I’ve seen a couple posts saying that it could even slow my pc down instead of making it faster, what should I do?

Hey there,

The answer is try, and see what happens. One of 3 things will happen:
1. They will work together perfectly.
2. They work together but at reduced speeds and have issues, or crashes
3. They won't work at all.

As you pointed out, mixing ram is not a good idea. It often leads to problems.

Edit: Also, most systems run better with 2 x kit rather than 4 DIMMs. So in your case 2 x 16gb would be better than 4 x 8.

I doubt they're the same. What's the version number of each kit?

Assuming it works at all you might find the ram is now running at a lower speed.
