What to do with old computer

Hi, I have a very old computer. I am upgrading from a Celeron(R) 2.53 GHz, 512 MB RAM.

What should I do with this computer? Is there anything I can use/sell or should I just throw it into the recycling bin?

Make sure to remove the hard drive so you do not leave any personal information behind. you would not belive what people leave on their old machines. I have found bank account numbers,s.s. numbers, and lots more.

You could sell it, or you could set it up for a personal file server, or just a machine to use for nostalgia! I use my P4 Dimension for the 3rd one.

X2 on server. Throw a couple of 1Tb drives in it and set it up in the basement.

Not sure if I understand completely. Why would I want to use it as a file server if I already have a computer. For example, if I need additional space, I can just add some 1 Tb drives on my main desktop, no?

Also, I am intending to hook up an USB external drive to my router which I am going to store all my music and pictures.

Is there any advantage to use it as another file server?
