Sorry for the question, Im not really well informed regarding these kinds of stuff, anyways;

I have an old 500gb Seagate HDD with Win7 in it and Im planning to upgrade my system unit by adding a 120gb or 240gb SSD with Win10 OS and I also still want to use my old HDD for storage purposes.

How do I make it that my PC will boot Windows 10 from my new SSD?
And do I need to reformat my HDD to do this?.. bcoz as much as possible I dont want my stuff from my old HDD to be deleted.

Solution
In your BIOS you can choose your boot priority.

So you can basically choose which HDD/SSD to boot before another meaning you can choose the Win 10 ssd to boot before the Win 7 HDD.. Whats your MOBO?

In my opinion I would uninstall my Win 7 HDD, completely, the install my SSD, install Win 10 onto the new SSD, then once Im in Windows I would reinstall my HDD as a secondary drive, transfer all my files from the old HDD and then format the HDD after you get everything you need so you can use it as a storage drive.
