What to do withy old RAM stick?

Hello, so I just bought 16gb of ram (2x8) and I was wondering if my old 8gb ram stick is compatible with my new ones? even if they are diffrent brands? Also, if not should I maybe sell my old one?

We cannot answer since you do not mention the make and model of your new and old ram. Generally speaking, it is not recommended to mix ram and may get you into problems, not to mention that you don't need anything more than 16gb or ram for most tasks. Sell the old one is the best you can do.
