Well I'm willing to spend enough to get a 5970, but I wanted to ask everyone here incase I'm overlooking something, like if there is anything that can really compete with it, and I really don't want a duel card system so not that its out of question it just isn't as appealing to me

As for budget of my system total about 1500$ give or take some more.
And this system is for everything, from little WoW to Crysis and Metro.

Already have most of it picked out thinking about a Deneb and maybe a 1KW PSU maybe 850W not sure yet.

you don't need the lucid hydra to crossfire the 5970 with the 5870 and anyway, the lucid chip is new and does not scale as well as crossfire or SLI just yet.

Physx is crap and only used with a couple games

I'll be getting it in a week or 2 so yeah the HD 5970 looks like the right idea and hell if i do ever need more GPU power I'll just use crossfire.

Only reason I ask is because the Nvidia fanboys always say you miss out on 3D and PhysX, but I'm sure the 8 people who want 3D have it and Physx just sounds like a feature that is interesting but eh...

well if you have a lucid hydra chip on board you could mix 5970 with 5870 ;)

but yea if you really want physics you can just get a cheap nvidia card for it.

right now 5970 is king and if you're buildign today and have the money why not go big
