what to look for when buying a monitor

What should I look for when buying a monitor? I want a hd 24 inch but what resolution and what else should I consider

Depends on your system, there are 1080p(HD) 1440p(IHD) and 2160p(UHD) and others in between to choose from.

The higher the resolution, more powerful graphics cards are needed.

Generally speaking for fast paced games like shooters(BF4, CS:GO) high refresh rates and low response times are key(AOC g2460Fqs).

For real time strategy games like Sins of a Solar Empire, refresh rates and response times aren't that important and I'd go for an IPS panel that has greater range of colors, deeper colors and true black(AOC Professional I2460Pxqu).
