What to store on WD Green?

I have 3 storage locations
- SSD: Drive C
- WD Black: Everything else
- WD Green: Overflow and backup, otherwise redundant and does nothing

But reading something just now gave me the idea that I should put media on Green and leave Black with the games, installs and documents. Is this a good idea? Will it improves frames with Shadowplay (GTAV didn't like Shadowplay running yesterday, dropped the frames all the way down to 7)?

While it will not improve performance, having it sitting there empty doesn't make much sense, though i personally will never again use a green drive(they brake down like crazy) storing media file on it could be the best thing to do as long as you aren't accessing them all the time

Well, that was the idea when I left it in there instead of returning it when I put the Black and subsequently the SSD in, but between Dropbox (which creates local copies on my other devices such as my Mac which also has a physical storage back up) and Steam cloud save, my stuff on this PC isn't backed up locally (but what it has on it is almost identical to what's on my Mac and always will be). There is a folder named backup on WD Green though which I haven't updated in a while

Hey there, unplanned bacon!

Great storage configuration you got there! :)
As the guys above already mentioned you can use the WD Green as a backup drive. It is designed to serve as such for your massive data.
I'd suggest you to put the drive in an external enclosure and use it as off-site backup, because if you keep it in your system it can't really count as a backup. I think that would be a great extra backup for your PC, alongside your cloud storage solutions.

Hope this was helpful! Keep us posted with your decision! :)

Thanks. It's actually that way, because I made an error picking hard drives (zero hour change if I remember right) and I didn't want to waste time returning the original Hard Drive, so I just added WD Black and then 840 Evo later for my OS

I've moved my media to the Green drive, left my documents, games and installs on Black (don't want to move documents right now, because I can't stand to lose anything atm if anything goes wrong with finals coming)
