[SOLVED] What to upgrade? CPU or GPU?

Hi y’all,
Just wanted to ask for your inputs on my potential upgrade for my first rig which I bought last Nov. 2016

Build:

CPU: i5 6500

Motherboard: GA H170M mATX

GPU: MSI GTX 1060 6GB

RAM: 8GB 2400mhz (due to mobo limitation, its only running at 2133mhx max)

PSU: Seasonic M12 520w
I play most games on 1080P 144hz

Planning to buy:

- Ryzen 5 3600 + B450 Tomahawk Max + HyperX Predator 16gb dual 3200mhz RAM

GPU:

RTX 2070 Super MSI Trio or

AMD 5700XT (not sure what AIB model yet)

Concerns:

My friend has his 5700XT gigabyte blower style and he experienced some crashing when in games or even opening a browser. Looked up in the internet and found out that this is common.


Also wondering if I bought a GPU alone, is my cpu bottlenecked?

The bottle neck will most likely come from the MB at present so I would go for a x570 MB board with the Ryzen or at least a x470, the 450 is the bottom end for the new chips now, other than that it is a nice upgrade indeed. I would also tend towards the 2070 super, depends on how much you can spend.
I have a Ryzen 2700x with a 2080 oc Asus and to be on the safe side a beQuiet 750w Gold, Seasonic a great but 520w might be tight on voltage headroom, 600w min would be ideal.

First and foremost, what is your budget? We can recommend the planet to you. Without knowing the budget, it would be hard to recommend.
