What to upgrade first?

Hello,

I built my current system a few years ago now, and I'm starting to find certain games sluggish - to the point of being unplayable.

Here are my specs:

CPU: Intel E8400
GPU: AMD Radeon 7850 1GB
RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) Kingston HyperX 1066MHz

I know I have to upgrade everything eventually, but I was wondering if there were any step changes I could make that wouldn't be redundant when I finally upgrade the CPU (and consequently the mobo).

I think the answer is probably no, but I just want some second opinions!

Second question: What is likely to be my current bottleneck?

cpu/mb/RAM = AMD FX 6300/ Asus M5A97 R2.0 / 2 x 4 gig of 1600 Mhz = $250

Incremental upgrades are pointless IMO .
