Hello everyone, I've built a mid-range gaming PC for gaming mainly which has

AMD FX-6300
Radeon HD-7870
8GB DD3-1600
1GB SATA III HD

Now i work a lot in photo editing using Lightroom and Photoshop and sometimes my pc struggles when editing many photos, and i wonder what would be better to upgrade, the Processor or buying a new SSD would speed things a bit!

Thank you

Yes ssd is like a faster HDD just non mechanical it doesn't matter what CPU you have SSD does not makes your system fast that depends on the CPU .
An SSD does much the same job functionally as an HDD, but instead of a magnetic coating on top of platters, the data is stored on interconnected flash memory chips that retain the data even when there's no power present.
So the booting time will be short the file transfer will be much quicker saving and loading application will be faster.
As opposed to gaming, the CPU is king when it comes to video or photo editing. The two things that would make the biggest difference would be upgrading your CPU to perhaps an FX-8320 and upgrading the speed of your ram. Check the specs on your mobo to see what the highest frequency of ram it supports, then buy the fastest you can afford. If you can afford DDR3-2400 Memory then grab that. A cheaper alternative would be to double the ram and get another 8gb.

Currently getting a Fx 8350 and a SSD would give you a performance boost in Photoshop.
