Hi, Just want to ask which of my components will have significant benefit from an upgrade. My hardware is as follows:

CPU: Intel i7 4790k (w/ stock cooler)
Mobo: Asus Z97-A
GPU: Asus Strix GTX 1080 (ROG-STRIX-GTX1080-O8G-11GBPS)
RAM: G.Skill Trident X ddr3 1333mhz 16gb
PSU: Corsair RM 1000 80+ gold
SSD: Crucial MX100 240gb
HDD: WD Blue 3TB
Monitor: Asus PG279Q or Acer XB271hu (still to be bought, but kinda fixed on getting either, open to suggestions as well. Upgrading from 60hz 23" monitor)

My question is, do i need to upgrade my ram with a better frequency? or should i wait until i can upgrade cpu+mobo+ram altogether? i'm yet to buy the monitor so i'm also open to suggestions if there are alternatives to make good use of the money. I'm also thinking of getting a decent cooler and try my hands on overclocking.

System will be used for gaming and occasional video rendering.

Nothing is easier to install than a noctua air cooler. Same with reliabilty.
Nocuta will send you, for free, anywhere in world, future mounting kits if you require (when socket holes eventually change). The heatsinks lifespan is therefore indefinite. Their fans are guranteed for 6 or 7 years.
No one comes close.

That CPU is still quite good though. but if you really want, yes wait until you can upgrade CPU+mobo +ram as youll need to get DDR4 ram.
The best thing you can do for your system is getting a large monitor.

Strongly recommend a 16:9 32" 1440p. Youve got the GPU & CPU power to run it. Itll be the best thing you ever did for your pc.
(16:9 is way more practical for use VS a 21:9)

I dont recommend ASUS monitors. Have a look at the s32d85 Samsung or the Benq equivalent. PVA , no backlight bleed & way better quality control than asus & acer. I saw heaps of returns & DOAs for asus monitors at work & look at reports here. Guy had to replace his PG model 4 times beofre he got one that worked.

that's what i initially thought, add to the fact that i can't find any review or comparison for 1333mhz as opposed to a faster ram, say 2133mhz. thanks!

I'm picking those monitors mainly due to the higher refresh rates. I might as well wait and check for the upcoming VA panel from asus (PG27VQ). However pricing for that one hasn't been revealed yet and my gut tells me that it will be way too overpriced. :/

i most probably will... but i'm torn between aio and air...it's my first time buying and installing an aftermarket cooler. some say aio is easier to install. but i'm leaning towards air since i'm hoping that by the time i upgrade my cpu,ram,mobo.. that cooler would still be as effective and compatible. :/
