I am looking to upgrade my system but don't know what part of my PC would give me the biggest upgrade. Any thoughts on what to upgrade would help to get my started. I play a lot of Players Unknown Battlegrounds so this system is mainly used for gaming.

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790k @ 4.00 GHz
Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X-SLI-CF
RAM: ddr3 f3-2400c10d-16gtx (can't seem to run stable at 2400 mhz in PUBG without crashing) Running at 1333 mhz
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Monitor: ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278QR 27"

Thanks!

ah! you have a very similar system as I have, my ram is 1866 though , ,

0. for the money GTX 1070 video card upgrade
1. next step would be a i5 or i7 8xxx series cpu, motherboard, ram set... 4-700$ depending on choices.,
2. have you over clocked your video card yet ?

whats your budget for upgrade(s) look like. and where are you located (UK, Europe, asia, US, Canada??)

I have not over clocked my video card or anything (not confident in Overclocking). I am located in the US and have probably a $700 budget but depends could also save up if necessary.

I would keep the 970 video card (price are crazy right now (over 700+$ for a 1070)

Gotcha, so the biggest improvement worth the money would be to upgrade my CPU, Mobo and RAM.

I could also purchase the upgrade and try to sell my current setup.

Do you know why when I change my RAM speed to the stock 2400 MHz it causes my games to crash? But the computer itself doesn't. I find it odd but once i change the RAM speed back to 1333 mhz it resolves the issue.

Single Channel Memory?

He is only gaming, i5 8th Gen would be better.

Like Paladin said, keep the 970. If you already have an SSD and HDD, drop the SSD and HDD from my list and you have saved some money.

You can sell your current setup to subsidize the cost too.

Not too sure why your RAM does that.
