Hi everyone,

Had my pc a while now and Im feeling that something needs upgrading and I have around £700 to do so. Im just upgrading what will benefit me so dont really want a whole new system specs are below

Current rig:

MSI 990XA-GD55 AM3+ motherboard
AMD Bulldozer FX-6200 Black Edition (@ 4.1ghz)
Corsair H100 AM3+ Liquid CPU cooler
Kingston HyperX Genisis Grey 2 x 4gb 1600mhz ram
Sapphire HD 7870 XT 2gb graphics card (1000 core/ 1500 memory)
Samsung 120gb SSD 840
WD 320gb Secondary hdd
Aerocool Xpredator X3 gaming tower case Black/Orange ( usb 3.0 and fan controller)
Corsair cx500m modular power supply

I play games like BF4 , BF Hardline, GTAV and would like to try some simulator like project cars

just not sure whether to get a 8350 and some new cooler fans and overclock it as the stock h100's are noisy at full rpm along with a gtx 970 or r9 r90x

or to go intel with a i5 4690k but ill also need a new board

p.s. will a 8350 just drop in or will i need a bios update?

Solution
Heres what i would do: get a z97 board with a cheaper i5, like a 4440 now, and when the new broadwell cpus come out, upgrade to an overclockable i5. Broadwell will be compatible with z97 mobos.

And regarding the gpu, wait for the new amd ones and get the 280x or the 370x. Wich will probably be the same thing.

MSI's Website lists that the 8350 is supported since Ver.5. You will very likely need to do a bios update to house an 8350.

Many users have also reported of the same motherboard you have throttling the 8350 at stock voltages, mainly due to the VRM's overheating. A fan over the VRM could help alleviate this.

Do you have the h100 as an intake or an outtake?
