[SOLVED] What to upgrade

Currently have a i7 6700, Gtx 1070, Msi z170 gaming m5 mobo, 1000 watt evga psu, 32gb ddr4 dominator 3200mhz ram with a Corsair h150 pro xt aio. I game in 1080 and am looking for more FPS in games like modern warfare and am unsure if getting the new 3080 would even be anywhere near worth it compared to a new processor and motherboard. Any recommendations appreciated.

1080p gaming is not demanding. Do you have a 60 Hz monitor or higher?

I don't see the point in getting a 3080 or even a 3070 for that matter. For 1080p60 I consider that combo to be plenty.

When you'll eventually upgrade your monitor, then I'd see a GPU and/or a platform upgrade(CPU + motherboard) making sense.

I'm not super interested in over 1080 at the moment. I do have a 144hz monitor overclockable to 165hz but I rarely see 144 in games I'd like too. Warzone I get around high 80-90 until firefights and explosions go off then it can drip to almost 60fps. Even in Dota2 my fps stay at around 90-100. I just bought a Msi Mpg z490 and an i7-10700k instead of a new card.

Personally I would have gone with a better GPU. There is a simple test to see how much your CPU is holding you back:

1. Put all settings to minimum.
2. Set resolution to 720p
3. See how many FPS you get.

This will be the max FPS possible with the CPU you have. The difference between this and what you currently have is you GPU bottleneck.
