So uhm I'm looking into gaming computers to buy and I want to play 4k 144 hz I was investigating and I saw that one GTX 980ti alone could handle 4k so I was wondering if two could do 4k 144hz easy but then I don't know what type of procesor I would need etc etc I would like a PC with a SSD only aswell

Solution
Yeah this isn't even doable on brand new AAA titles with the best GPU on the market. Not to mention, the only displays that even support 4K @ 144Hz have to sacrifice color resolution to do 144Hz. You'll have to wait till GPUs have HDMI 2.1 or the next Displayport revision before you can even truly run a display at 4K/144Hz. To get the display and hardware to drive it right now would cost somewhere in the realm of $5000+. I have a 2080ti and still don't think 4K is worth it over 1440p.

Not really, not without turning down details. Even the 1080Ti couldn't manage all games at 60fps maxed out.

Definitely not the 980Ti.

No. SLI doesn't work like that - and generally is poorly supported.

4K monitors that can handle that refresh rate are a very recent thing. No video cards can handle that on the latest titles with max details.

The RTX 2080Ti is, I think, the first card that can do 4k max details at 60fps consistently.

what if it was war thunder?

Do you really need that kind of RAM though? Does it make that much of a performance difference to use 32GB for 4K as opposed to 16GB? I would think this would be more GPU dependent than anything else.

It's definitely not likely to ever run out at 16gb, but honestly if you're spending $2500-3000 on a build I'm dang sure not going to run out of ram due to having too much stuff open in the background

Edit; he's already started a new thread asking for 144hz 1440p 😉
