What type of Gen CPU's (intel) does my Motherboard support.

So i have a core i3 gen 3 in my pc right now and i want to upgrade to a 5 gen or higher. but i dont know how to check what type of Gens does my motherboard support

i am asking this question because this is what my friend asked when i told him i wanted to get a new CPU.
