What type of Monitor should I get?

I was thinking of going to get a 4K monitor in a year or so, due to the fact I am learning programming as well as I will be doing 3D modeling/Other graphic design. I'm interested if this would benefit me more than a 1080p monitor. Since a 1080p monitor will probably offer better picture quality, but at a lower resolution. Anything would be better than the Coby TV I am currently using.

I would be willing to go $500, but I heard many 4K monitors should be dipping below $500's so I'll be waiting until next year.

well if you are not actually rendering or doing 4k 3d modeling i dont really think that you would need a 4k monitor....

I think that's a good choice.However if that does not end up happening perhaps consider getting a IPS monitor.
