From what I can see, this cable is just a 5-pin USB IDC Motherboard Header Cable (female to female)
Here is one on ebay (I have just order one to test it

Did it work?
That cable will not work for the ext_fan header. The pins are not as spaced out as that cable is expecting. The original cable uses a white connector that is meant for pins that are even smaller than the IDC type of pins. I am desperately looking to figure out the proper cable for this card. If anyone knows where I can get the right cable, I am very interested.
Yep, I found out the hard way. I'd really like to get my hands on this cable. I was able to get a card but can't find this cable anywhere - proprietary cables suck.
Sorry to wake up an old thread. Any news? I'm stumbling on the same problem right now and it sucks. I just Emailed Asus to see if they might have some lying around haha. I might just DIY it if it comes to that :/.
If you DIY it, I would love to know about it and help fund that project to get a cable for myself.
I found a 4-pin Female to Female cable for the time being, should arrive in the next few days. I am also in contact with Asus about this and no luck just yet. They said they are looking into seeing if they have that part for me to be able to purchase. I do not have much faith in that attempt.
I found this:

Which is the only connector I have not tried buying yet. If you have the gear to make that into a cable, then give it a try and let me know. I would much rather buy the cable from someone thats made it and tested it than make my own.
Would the 4 pin to 4 pin work you reckon? And the header you posted actually looks the right size. at least the closest i've seen one. I'm in Australia so might take a few weeks to post one to me but i'll order one and update this thread once i find out if it works. Damn it's annoying of them to not sell any parts separate. Good luck~
the card works two ways.
1, using the 5-pin header you can use the ASUS software to control each of the fans connected and receive data from the sensors.
2. 4-pin connector, splits the PWM signal to all three fan connectors, only takes data back from the fan connected to fan header 1.
Both require the external power connector to be plugged in as well. I figured I might as well use it as a glorified splitter until I find the right cable.
I know they ship out that cable from NY. I am in PA. It may be worthwhile to spend the small amount to get the connectors to let you know if its gonna fit. I would hate for you to pay a lot for shipping such a small thing.
