I'm going to be using a MIS K8N Diamond which used ddr 400 type ram, so is there different ram that works better for overclocking? I'll be using 1 x 1gb stick. The system isn't built yet so I want to get some pointers with this pc component.

I'd rather buy 2 x 512mb sticks than 1 x 1gb stick man... but if u hav more cash to burn why not 2 x 1gb??? i recommend ocz/corsair, hi end one of course....

In the past I did exactly that bought 2 pieces but I know I will likely keep this PC for a long time so upgrading ram will be cheaper in the future as I could imagine an extra gig will be need once Vista come about and all the associated apps.

Is that all I need just the brand or should I actully have some specs to go by? I was going to get Kingston Ram.

What I have discoverd is that Athlon 64 works better with certain types of ram like TCCD chips.

If you only buy 1 stick of 1gb, it will actually be slower than if you bought the 2 x 512.

That is because with the single stick the ram would only be running in single channel, and it will cut the througput of the ram in half.
