Hey there,
I can upgrade my system right now but I don't know what the best upgrade path for me will be so, I come to the forums for suggestions.

My current system specifications are:
Motherboard : Gigabyte H110M-S2
Processor : Intel Pentium G4560 @3.5GHZ
Graphics card : iGame Colorful GTX 1060 6GB
RAM : HyperX 4x2 (8GB)
Power supply : 550W EVGA
Storage : HyperX 120gb SSD and 1TB Hard drive

Monitor : LG - 720p (1360x768) (Old af)

Right now, my budget for upgrading my pc is around 300$ but I can also wait and save up more if advised.

I've been wanting to upgrade my monitor to this exact model, as the one I have right now is really old and pretty bad for gaming. After I get the monitor, I can maybe upgrade my motherboard + CPU (Not decided yet).

If you believe I should do something differently then please let me know in the replies. Thank you for reading :)

I'd get this first, going with a larger monitor should shift more of your gaming load from the CPU to the GPU.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Monitor: LG - 29UM69G-B 29.0" 2560x1080 75Hz Monitor ($253.94 @ OutletPC)
Total: $253.94

Then next I would probably try to find a used 6700(K)/7700(K) for a good price , a motherboard BIOS update may be required for the 7XXX gen CPU's.

Okay for that monitor you need a slightly better GPU and most certainly a new CPU/Mobo. Budget may prevent you from getting desired results.

I'd recommend something like this for Intel :

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Core i5-8400 2.8GHz 6-Core Processor ($269.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI - B360 GAMING PLUS ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($89.99 @ B&H)
Memory: Team - Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($70.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $430.86

For AMD,i'd go with something like this :

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor ($209.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI - B450-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard ($69.99 @ B&H)
Memory: Team - Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($70.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $350.86

As mentioned though, to hit higher FPS you will need a stronger GPU too. But for the moment, that would be a substantial upgrade over what you have.
I would recommend 16gb of ram if you can stretch the budget also.

That is clearly a scam.

Even thought my system may not be able to get very high frames for me to take full advantage of a 144 Hz display, wouldn't it still be okay if I bought the one I had mentioned and used it for now and later upgraded my components? I get around 90 frames in most of the games I play at medium-ish settings right now.

How well do they at 720P on that G4560? I would think they make be difficult although those hyperthreaded dual cores can perform quite well.

Actually you could use Nvidia DSR and run the games at 1080P with vsync turned off and see what FPS you get. If they stay above 60 and you want that 1080P/144hz monitor then I'd go with that. If they struggle at that FPS then you'll want the CPU upgrade.
