Hello guys,
I was wondering which upgrades should I consider in the cpu department because I have an fx 8350 with 1070 graphics card and I know that the gpu can still hold out for a few years but that I should be looking into upgrading? I know that I will also have to swap out the motherboard and ram because they are not compatible with other components, so my question is which cpu should I get, and consequently which mobo and rams should I buy that matches it?

Thank you very much for responding, I'll post my full specs down.

Depends what you have to spend.

Any recent model AMD CPU is going to be a vast improvement. Anything from Intel going back six or seven years will also do the trick.

On the cheap end: Ryzen 2600 (if available), Ryzen 3600 if not.
B550 motherboard
16GB DDR4 3600Mhz, CL 16

GTX1070 is getting a little outdated, but you are right, still good enough for 1080p in most games for now.

Now, you could also go brand new, Ryzen 5600X, Same 16GB of memory, and B550 motherboard would do in a pinch, but preferably X570 motherboard.

Intel still technically an option, but Intel i5-10600k doesn't really compare favorably with AMD at the moment.

You might want to check the age of your power supply, make sure it has some life left in it. And consider replacing any fans that have been in operation for the last 5+ years. Certainly want a beefy heatsink for those last two CPU choices. 5600X doesn't get too warm, but the cooler it is the more it will boost up to maximum clock speeds.

There isn't an upgrade path on that platform.
I would try OCing the FX 8350, to extract every bit of performance left on it.
You will need to look into a new motherboard, RAM & CPU...and possibly a PSU.
Do you have a budget in mind?
I would consider a Ryzen 5 5600x with a B550 motherboard and16GB of 3600MHz DDR4 RAM.
If you have a reliable PSU, you could reuse it.

High end, CPU not easy to get ahold of, just came out. Again, Ryzen 3600 an option. Motherboard has USB only BIOS flashing capabilities, which is something to look for at new CPUs for older motherboards.

Hello guys thank you for the reply, I checked and my psu is the Corsair CX 750 M, so if its still ok I'd keep that I will be looking into the recommended Ryzen CPU's.

Thank you once again for the reply
