What version of 3Dmark should I use.......?

While your on.....if ATI tools gives me an error every 3-4 minutes but I don't ever see an artifact....what does that mean?

Im up to 702/1728/972 with no errors @ 63C.

Is it worth it to shoot for 1000 mem?

no... there muist be a reason why ATITools is giving you an error... back down your clocks... btw, i tend to be pretty conservative with my clocks, so...

Memory no.. doesn't ussually increase performance nearly as much.

The general guideline is 2 minutes with no artifacts.

If it errors there *WAS* an artifact. You might not of noticed it, it might of been a single pixel. Whether to push further or leave as is.. totally up to you. If it runs games and you don't visually notice an error there shouldn't be a problem.

Wellll I kind of beg to differ on that one. And the good part is I have some hard proof evidence to help me. When I was messing around with OC my 8800GT's memory I would use Portal for my tests with every option maxed out.When I changed my memory from stock 900 to 1040 I gained roughly 6FPS, which for almost no effort ain't to shabby. Compared to overclocking the core which didn't provide such an increase, I think 3FPs from 600 to 700, especially past 700Mhz. I think I have the details in a text file somewhere, I'll try to pull it up and give the exacts.

I went from 900MHz to 1050MHz on my 8800GTS 320MB, and the difference in avg. performance in fps in COD4 was around 2fps. 3dmark06 scores didn't increase much either.

For the 8800GTS's sure, but the focus was on the 8800 GT and it seemed as though the focus was saying that increasing the 8800GT's memory will provide a moot gain from marty. I just wanted to point out specifically that the 8800GT does get a nice little boost from the memory OC. But then again I guess we should head the words of JohnnyGuru and not even bother to take the memory anymore much past 950 to be on the safe side.
