Using x1650SE, getting 8800gts or 2900pro (if available and see more bench) in a week or so.

The riva 128/128zx (8MB BEAT THAT GTX!) was my favorite.

The 2900 Pro is only $289.99 at ncix http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26278&vpn=H290PR512DVN-R&manufacture=HIS

Where did you see the 8800GTS 640MB for $320?

Clint

What's wrong with that? Lots of online polls don't let you see the results until you vote, or don't let you vote after you've seen the results. The idea is that you vote without being influenced by others' votes.

Well, I can tell you this: when I was playing Overlord on an X1900XT (capped at 30 fps) without vsync enabled, my screen was tearing like crazy even though the fps would top out at 30 and my screen's refresh rate was 60Hz, after enabling vsync, however, the problem went away. So screen tearing does not necessarily mean (at least according to that) that you are getting fps that are higher than your monitor's refresh rate.
The same thing also happens pretty much with any other game, regardless of how much fps I'm getting, except for TF2 beta, for some reason there wasn't much screen tearing there.

Oh, and I also can't view the poll results even after I've voted.

Hmmm, so maybe the fps didn't go up after all, and they just introduced some new bug in the drivers. Anyway, don't let me hijack the thread, I should have started my own.

Edit: poll results: it works for me, in FireFox 2. What browser are you using? The people who maintain the site will need to know that so they can fix it.

Did you mean it's "NOT" showing the results? Sorry, totally misunderstood. Anybody know how to contact the Web admin?

I still have a handful of matrox video cards and even VLB (not agp/pci(e)) cards.

8800gts 640mb for the win.

Wouldn't it be awesome to take your computer 10 years back in time just as Windows 98 came out and you are running XP 64bit playing games like Supreme commander while others are playing the first red alert?

Woot.

I have a 7900GS. The most taxing game I play is Guild Wars, and I think it stays pegged at my monitor refresh rate.
My wife has a 7600GT, a hand-me-down I gave her when she started playing GW too. I think it sometimes drops into the upper 40s. We both play at 1440x900.

I have three computers presently running:
a 8800 GTS 640
a XT 1900 XTX water cooled
a 7800 GTS 256 mb

When I get around to building a fourth computer, unless a new card comes out before then, I'll be using a HD 2900 1 gig card. All the cards that I have are basically good, but the 8800 GTS doesn't get along with my AMD FX60 all that well. Nvidia explains in their release notes that K7 and K8 CPUs have coding that doesn't work well with the 8800 series cards, but the 7800 GTX has no problems. Sounds strange to me, but whatever.

i currently use a x1900xt 512 overclocked at 700 core 1700mhz mem so it beats a x1950xtx.

i currently look for an upgrade but i just can't decide: when my card is having a rough time (rainbow six vegas at high, hdr and AA or call of juarez high, hdr and AA) it seems to me that the 8800gts or 2900xt isn't doing a whole lot better........ according to benchmarks online.

when these cards are getting 100fps, mine does 60-70 so i don't care. but when mine gets only 18 fps, those cards get 24-25 fps wich still isn't fast enough!

only a gtx does a fine job compared to mine but that's out of my league and not worth the money either.

maybe an overclock will make a difference? wich is better: 8800gts overclocked or 2900pro/xt overclocked?

not to impressed by the upcoming cards either: rv670 barely beats r600 and g92 is just 8800gt. new high-end will both be dual gpu cards wich will (again) use a lot of powerrrr (and produce a lot of heat).

agreed with that but u can't really compare the 1900 with the 8800 or the 2900 because they're in the DX 10 category so the 1900 is already at a disadvantage because of the 9.0c compatibility only:p

My other card was a 1900 AIW but I sold it because the tuner wasn't all that great.

Old P4 running a Gainward 5900 Ultra Golden Sample 256mb and the new Core 2 Duo is running EVGA 8800 GTS KO 320mb. Been very happy with both cards.

Agree.
I have a 1950XT and expect this to last through the end of 2008. By then DX11 will be out! A good time to upgrade to a G100/R800!
I could have gotten a 8800 GTX at the time, but it was expensive back then and no DX10 software to run.

I've got this click here

That time at CompUSA there was this huge sale on it got it for half the price.

It's got 2 pcie 6 pin and 2 pcie 8 pins.
And it's semi-molex

The more powerful one is the 1KW version but during that time it was not available.
