I am planning on switching from an intel processor to an amd and I'm wondering as to what will happen to the BIOS. I am taking the HHD I have now that's being used with my intel processor and literally just moving it to a computer with an amd. Will I have any problems?

Solution
Answer me this are you moving to the zen architect and what intel cpu do you have. In general intel will cost less over time to run. It was even seen with the Radeon vs nvidia. In theory the Radeon should use less for its nano meter size but they pooped on that one
But to answer your question: yes just make sure the new motherboard is activated under the windows license. If it is Linux it is another story. Psst i do not do linux i do android.

Sorry, but I believe john vitz answer above is incorrect. Bios and drivers are different between amd and intel. Your best solution is to make a backup of your files, make sure you have install media for your other programs and an installation disk or usb thumb drive for windows. You need to do a clean install of windows.

ok i got ahead of myself buy meh all he needs to do is have the original disk ready for an install or magically it may just take like my amd phenom 1 to amd phemom 2. yes i know it is amd to amd, but as long as the drivers are already in the c drive it should take. most survive packs or aka patch Tuesdays drop the proper drivers before hand enough said. a clean install will not get drivers he does not have
