Question what wireless NIC or USB card can I buy for my Dell optiplex 790 Tower?

I have dell optiplex 790, and i want to add wireless NIC whether USB or PCIe

Likely any USB device will work. Best on desktop machines to not buy the really small USB units and extend the USB device away from the computer with a USB extension cable to avoid signal loss caused by the case.

PCIE mostly depends on if you have a free slot that you can install a card into. If you can physically get the card into the machine it will work.

PCIE tend to have larger antenna and high transmit power than many USB devices. Of course the trade off is you have to open the case to install it. The very best PCIE cards have antenna that can be extended to the top of the case. Putting the antenna directly on the card is not the optimum option since they are very close to case and in back all which tends to block signal.
