I'm in need of a CPU upgrade, I have a i5-4590 @ ~3.55 OC running with a GTX 1070 8gb, this may have not been too bad a year or so ago but games are quickly getting more demanding and I fear it will severely bottleneck some of the upcoming games I really want to get.
That being said, what would be a good upgrade? Currently thinking of a 600 dollar budget; 400 for the cpu and 200 or a little more on the MOBO (ATX or Micro) I'll buy RAM later as I have to buy the parts in well.. Parts.
Was shooting for the lga1151 (300 series) but I'd really like to know what you guys think. Thanks!

R5 3600 is currently the best value CPU for both gaming and production work as well. Though, that may change once Intel comes out with 10th gen CPUs, but for now, AMD is leading the pack. R5 3600 has 6 cores and 12 threads, compared to the i5-9600K 6/6 cores/threads and R5 3600 is also cheaper than i5-9600K,

Also added good MoBo from MSI which comes with several bells and whistles, including on-board wi-fi.
And lastly, put it 2x 8GB 3200 Mhz RAM since Ryzen chips need fast RAM to operate effectively. 16GB is more than enough for today's gaming needs.

Since CPU-MoBo-RAM combo is well under the budget, pocket the rest of the money or buy something nice for your loved one.

Looks really good! Much more cost effective than the upgrades I had in mind.
