My Graphics card fan went out and am wanting to get a new card equivalent or better preferably so I can continue to use photoshop and some games for my kids. The computer is hp m9552p. I already had the power supply replaced with 400w.
This is what speccy said about my computer.

the 740 is certainly good enough for TF2 but i would recommend you spend just a teeeeny bit more and get your self a 750TI, it's certainly a newer card as it supports the newer max well compared to the older Architecture, and it is much more efficient, prices range from $130(the 1 GB version)...

awesome. I had looked at that one but wasn't sure. Would that fix the lag on some of the kids games like sonic generations and team fortress 2 or no?

the 740 is certainly good enough for TF2 but i would recommend you spend just a teeeeny bit more and get your self a 750TI, it's certainly a newer card as it supports the newer max well compared to the older Architecture, and it is much more efficient, prices range from $130(the 1 GB version) to $150(2 GB version) i would recommend you. The reason i say this is because the 750ti is an excellent card and as you mentioned that you have a 400w psu, i wouldn't risk getting a 740 as it consumes more power. All in all, 750ti is far better with a little more investment.
For a 750 ti, i would go with EVGA, here is a link with 3 types of the same card, if you have a smaller case, i would say go with the 750ti or the SC version, if you have a case that can fit it, go with the FTW edition. Cheers

The 950 will be above the op's budget, i'd say a 750ti would suit him perfectly.
