Hi there, as it says and sorry for the possibly stupid question.

what would be best? AMD Ryzen 5 2400G VEGA or a lesser/ same CPU with a R9 290?

I have been trying t figure out what would be best. but cant seem to find a comparison.

I already own the r9.

thanks for your help... or should I get a AMD Ryzen 3 1200 Quad Core with the r9 290

For what use-case?
If gaming, a Ryzen3 1200 + 290 would be the much stronger performer.

AMD APUs have come a long way with their iGP, but the 2400G's iGP is in GT1030 territory.
720p gaming, low 1080p, maybe medium in some titles.

imo r9 290 should give you a better boost in game than a 2400g apu.

you might want to look into intel cpu such as the 8100. or those pentium gold.

r9 290 is far better performance than any form of integrated graphics!
