I am wondering where I can go now to upgrade my PC

Specs are

MSI Tomahawk B350
Ryzen 1600 (OC'ed to 3.8Ghz)
GTX 970
8Gb 2400Mhz ddr4 ram
500w Coolermaster PSU
1Tb Drive and 120Gb SSD

I know I need to upgrade my GPU, but to what, what would give me the best performance for my money with this chip

Solution
I'd say either upgrade the RAM with an emphasis on faster models since Ryzen ties some of its speed to RAM speed. Other than that maybe just get a bigger SSD so you can load some games on it to, not a real improvement but nice to have.

Other than that just keep saving buy a new GPU with todays prices is just dumb.
Agreed.

There's not a lot difference between 970 and 1060 so youd go for at least a 1070/1070ti to have an increase but yeah price, price, price.

+1 wait for the new cards

Memory is a good suggestion. Ryzen likes fast memory and dual channel helps too, allowing the processor to access twice memory bandwidth.

Can also look at settings in Win 10 to get the most out of it. Power plans and also it may be in your favor to disable gamebar (Windows key + G). Features include gamemode, dvr recording and a behind the scenes feature - fullscreen optimisation can affect performance. Just some features in Win10 meant to improve performance but can have a negative impact.

Honestly if it were me and I was not having issues with my system I would save up and wait for the next gen cards to come out. The ram is the only thing I would take a hard look at if you are running a single stick, but the rest can wait . I have seen ppl have much more fun on much weaker systems. XD
