What would be the best GFX to buy?

I looked upon several test, benchmark websites and cards.

I was wondering which GFX would be appropiate for me, the primary use of my PC is blizzard games, but also, somewhat, powerful games. Games which require a quite significant GPU usage. The card installed in my PC at this time is AMD HD RADEON 6950. It has served me well in a couple of years. But with all the new games coming out later this year and next year, I simply don't think my PC has the necesary power anymore.

I have been looking at the Geforce GTX 970, a card that isn't too expensive, but allow me to play games at ultra or atleast a fine detail finish. Bear in mind that I have a 144Hz monitor, so running something in 144Hz is preferrable.

Well him to want a 970. Already tells me he has 1080p monitor that does 144hz. He probably has the ASUS 144hz monitor. Also the difference is not huge between the 970 and 980 but is noticeable. Most game will run at 10-20 fps higher on a 980.

With all the newer games coming out the are graphically demanded a 970 won't bring your monitor to its full potentia (bare in mind some games for the 970 will be smooth as butter but not all). A 980 or a Ti will be more suited for ultra settings and high fps
