What would be the best gpu for my system? :( please help.

Hi tomshardware!

I want to buy a graphics card for my OLD PC, please don't tell me to get a new PC, i don't have enough money to buy it please help.


Specifications of my PC:


Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz

Memory: DDR2 8 GB PC2-6400 800mhz

Motherboard: Asus P5Q-E

Graphic card: GT 520 2GB

PSU: Corsair tx 650 v2


i want to play on games at 1920x1080 resolution, Was looking at the GTX 950 or GTX 750 TI as a option. Anyone who can help me choice the best option?

I think either card will be a good option for you for 1080p. You will have some bottlenecks from your CPU but plenty of games should still be playable.

GTX 950 is faster than 750 Ti. However, I would opt for the 750 Ti, if you can find a nice used one on Ebay for about $50. Whichever you can get for a reasonable price would be a great option.

By the way, you have a nice older system. I've never seen a DDR2 system with 8 GB. I was looking on Ebay to find you a nice used 8GB (4GB x 2) kit but I didn't see any reasonable prices. Also, I don't know if you have two of your DIMM slots free. A SSD would be nice too, although your motherboard has only SATA 2 (3.0 Gbps). I think that it's cool that you continue to upgrade this machine.
