Question What would be the most sensible 300-400 $ upgrade(s) for me?

I've had this rig for the last 3 years. I use it mainly for gaming.

My specs:

CPU: I7 4790K @4.00Ghz
GPU : Nvidia GTX 970
RAM: 8+8 GB Ram DD3
Storage: 3 X SSDs (750 GB)
Mobo: MSI Z97 PC Mate (MS-7850)
Display: BenQ Zowie XL (144hz)

Any help appreciated.

i'd start by getting good overclock on the CPU. make sure you have good airflow in the case and good cooling on the CPU. if not adequate cooling, use the money to start with your cooling setup.

then upgrading to the highest tiered GPU you can afford. maybe save another $3-400 or so first.

I would go with an RTX 2070.
I realize they are a bit over $400...but I'd find a way to scrape up the cash.

2070 is a worthy move but make sure that your PSU can pull it as well.
