What would happen if i give a fan controller with adjustable speed 5v instead of 12?

Just you're gonna get if its active controller no power on it, if its passive, then you're gonna get at 100% 2/5 of the speed on fans.
Only giving more volts than it requires it would kill it.

Hard to tell without opening, but as far as my guess is i think the Knob is resistor which changes its value and thats how you control the speed.
Since it says input voltage 5V-12V it should work on 5V.

If you feed 5V into the controller, you most likely will be unable to start any fans connected to it.

Hi, yes i saw that the noctua nf a14 do not start on 5v. But i want to use this controller to control fans that normally work on maximum 5v.

Then it would depend on electronics inside the controller.
You might be able to control 5V fans. You'll have to try and see.
