I have a 1 tb hd and I want to install a ssd as my boot drive. Can I just install windows 10 on my SSD and use my hdd as my storage as easy as that? If I install windows 10 on my SSD while my hdd is active will my computer automatically delete the windows files on my HDD? I have 800 gbs used up on my hdd and a 250 ssd so I can't copy everything over. I want to keep all the files on my hdd as they are now.

Solution
Temporarily disconnect the HDD (either SATA cable or power); do the windows install on the SSD. If all goes well, just reconnect the HDD and use it however you want.

Yup, I forgot to mention this as well. Disconnect the HDD during the Windows install on the SSD just to ensure there's no accidents :)
