What would the most affordable CPU for a MSI GTX 960 4GB

I currently have an FX 4300 which as you know is pretty awful for gaming but I am only just beginning to upgrade my PC after 5 or so years.

What CPU would be able to keep up with the 960 and not bottleneck the GPU performance but is also affordable, I was looking at some of the Ryzen CPUs.

Any Ryzen would, even the least expensive. But a CPU upgrade to your current platform would too. Actually, the FX-4300 OC'ed might as well.

Yeah I have tried using an OC on the 4300 but honestly, there really is not much effect. I have spent hours trying different variations and watching videos of other people with the same CPU and I don't get any good results.

Depending on the motherboard you have, the FX-63xx and 83xx CPUs would be an upgrade. Either one should be fine with the GTX 960. That card is roughly the equivalent of the newer GTX 1050 Ti. That's why I'm surprised the FX-4300 is bottlenecking it.
