Wouldn't spend more.

I would be tempted to post a $20K build but if I won the lotto, I'd just get this:

w_.png

It has my dream motherboard and it has some seriously kick ass custom liquid cooling in it.

While searching for "Asus X99-E WS SSI CEB" case, bumped on this URL!! :)

I've built some machines worth more than that without winning any lottery. Example:

Teraflop-grade Xeon-Tesla Hybrid Cluster in 2012 (Rmax ~150 TFlops).

Currently I'm pondering to scale it up to ~400 TFlops by mid-2015. But I got no more Solar power left; first I must lay more panels and augment the battery bank to power that beast. Hence, a lot more new investment (compared to 20K) will go in the next two quarters...

Well, if particular about extreme PCs, I'm in the process to build ten X99 ultra workstations with a high budget during the holidays season to cater the computational requirement of my employees. It appears I might not have a good vacation...sigh!

Yes, those builds will be based on five 5960Xs, five Xeons, ten Asus X99-E WS boards and with a mix of many upcoming Maxwell cards (Titan Black II if it comes, Quadro and Tesla). Yet to choose a lot of hardware, say closing on SSI CEB cases is becoming a PITA!

Purpose (R&D): Design, Modeling and Simulation tasks; heavy Computational apps (double precision); couple of VMs on host OS; each build with 27" 1440p professional-grade triple displays; WD REd Pro based NAS with at least 32TB storage (eight drives or more).
