I have my eyes on getting a monitor for my upcomming gaming rig.

At first I was convinced I wanted 27inch, the whole man ego that bigger is better but I came to the realization that there is a limit due to how you can focus.

I am keen on getting a 24inch and now my choice is between IPS-Panel or TN-Panel.

For a TN Panel, the choice is endless and I can get a good enough 24 inch for £150 without trying too hard.

However everywhere I hear IPS being screamed from the rooftops, its just better in all areas even for gaming.

So I have done my research and can get hold of a VM633AT (HP ZR24w S-IPS 24 inch Monitor) for £228 and am thinking this could be a great deal and to jump in head first! and at 5ms response it calms the nerves when considering it for gaming and the whole response time issue.

So should I dive right in or for gaming am I just better off getting the TN panels out there?

I love IPS displays, got one for my main computer, it felt like I upgraded my whole system. The colors on the screen were so much better looking. The screen I have is a high-end one, about $600 so I can't really speak of how the cheaper one would look in relation, but it's pretty much a guarantee that you'll be happier with an IPS display over a TN one.

As far as the model goes, look online for some detailed reviews. I can tell you that the Dell UltraSharp series has always gotten great reviews, usually in the top one or two in comparisons between several monitors.
