I'd like to remove a single component from the prebuilt that will prevent the prebuilt from turning on when plugged in. I need it to be something I can easily put back in place later. Any recommendations?
A question like this requires a "Why?"I'd like to remove a single component from the prebuilt that will prevent the prebuilt from turning on when plugged in. I need it to be something I can easily put back in place later. Any recommendations?
Remove, or just disconnect?I'd like to remove a single component from the prebuilt that will prevent the prebuilt from turning on when plugged in. I need it to be something I can easily put back in place later. Any recommendations?
No, I want it to not turn on when plugged in with the power adapter. What do you mean by 'turning on when plugged in'? Do you mean if power goes out, when power comes back it auto turns on?
I cannot say exactly why but it's to make someone believe the PC was never able to be turned on.A question like this requires a "Why?"
What are you actually trying to do or prevent?
Thank you.The main 24 pin power cable from the motherboard. Or the front panel on/off switch connector.
Is it possible to remove this pin and put it back in at a later point? It's fine if I can't but I'm just wondering. So that would involve unscrewing the rear of the case and removing the cable at the motherboard? The 20/24-pin mainboard power connector is the easiest way to accomplish what you want. Of course keep in mind it's also easy for anyone else who knows what they're doing to plug it back in and turn the computer on.
Another option if you wanted to lock someone out is set a boot password. Though again, someone who knows what they're doing can reset this.
There's no specific pin, you're taking out the whole connector. It does involve opening the case, but all you're doing is unplugging power from it.Is it possible to remove this pin and put it back in at a later point? It's fine if I can't but I'm just wondering. I don't know if anyone else is affected, but to me this just seems shady and I'm done.I cannot say exactly why but it's to make someone believe the PC was never able to be turned on.
And with that we are done here.I cannot say exactly why but it's to make someone believe the PC was never able to be turned on.
