[SOLVED] What's a decent (relatively cheap) cooler for a ryzen 9 3900x?

I currently got a corsair h55 but it runs my processor on the toasty side it seems. About 4 passes of cinebench is enough to get it up to 93c and if I kept going I'm sure it would hit 95c+

The most demanding game I got (Battlefront 2) hits it up to 81c max is the highest I saw it go but that game doesn't use up that much of the 3900x's CPU usage so I assume something more demanding would run my processor a lot hotter

Are there any coolers out there around the 40 to 60 dollar range that would do better than my AIO or is $60 just way too low?

The thermal right beats it outright at a much lower price

Your case is decent, remove that side fan though - it's worthless, it also won't allow a big tower cooler, leave your current fan configuration apart from that, use the fan from the h55 as a straight rear exhaust.

I reckon the macho would take you down to sub 80c temps even under stress testing, ambient temps permitting.

Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 or 360 but you will find nothing better than yours for that price, get ready for 150 bucks or more. Just too many cores for a cheapy cooler.

What case are you using and what's the rest of your fan configurations??

I'm not sure what case it is. it was a gift from a friend and there's no markings or brand name anywhere on it

Fan setup is:
  • Two 120mm intake fans blowing cool air into the system on the front of the case with a dust filter
  • A slightly larger fan on the very top of the case blowing hot air out (a 140mm fan I think?)
  • One rear exhaust fan on the back of the case where my AIO's radiator is mounted blowing the CPU's hot air directly out the case
  • 120mm side panel fan between my GPU and power supply blowing hot air out of the case

Hard to recommend without knowing the case model exactly.

The fact is though the h55 is on par performance wise with a cheap $25 tower cooler, all it has is aesthetics.

Its nowhere near beefy enough for something like the 3900x.

Good tower coolers are within your budget

That's the best sub $60 cooler there is imo.

The issue is whether it'll fit your case or not.

It will absolutely handle the 3900x so long as your case has sufficient airflow to begin with.
