plug the cpu fan, case fan, north bridge fan into the appropriate labled/placed fan headers on your motherboard so that the sensors display their information correctly while your using monitoring software like Everest http://www.lavalys.com/ or your Motherboards Monitoring software like DFI mobos have smart guardian. In your bios theres also a place to allow a fast or slow fan speed (this is my bios)

you wont be able to control fan speed if the fan is powered using a molex(directly to power supply) unless the fan has a speed switch built into it.
