[SOLVED] What's a good GPU that runs quietly?

Hello guys,

I just bought Red Dead Redemption 2 and literally can't play it cause my graphic card (MSI RX 580 ARMOR OC 8 GB) sounds like an aircraft is about to takeoff. Usually I underclock this card with WattMan to make it bearable, but that's not possible here cause the game is too demanding. Now I'm looking for a QUIET comparable card of the same price range, please help.

Thanks.

Two thoughts:

1. What is your case and fan arrangement??
Any graphics card(and CPU for that matter) needs a good source of fresh air for a cooler to do it's job.

2. If you are looking to change out your graphics card, buy one that is a fair amount stronger so that it can loaf.
In general, the nvidia cards need less power(and cooling) at a given performance level compared to amd.
Look at a GTX1660ti which would fit your budget and is stronger than a rx580
it is only a 120w unit
Yes, that's the Nitro+ I was talking about; but that also includes any other Nitro+ such as the RX 590, Vega 56, Vega 64, RX 5700, RX 5700XT.

Other quiet GPUs include MSI GAMING X and ASUS ROG Strix (triple fan).

I myself own the ROG Strix RX 590, it's not loud until you loud up a game. And when you do, it gets loud. But not as some other GPU's get. I recommend buying it.

Out of curiosity, what voltage did you use, and for what clock speed?

Using WattMan and standard clock speed, I lowered the voltage from 1150 mV to 1087, which still made the game crash over time. Even through that apparently was too low, there was no sufficient noise reduction.

I also did my usual method of just trying different clock speeds of -20% to -50%. This lowered the noise somewhat but it's not worth the performance loss with a demanding game like this.

Right now I'm about to buy the Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Nitro+, but I'm not finally sure if I shouldn't buy a better card in terms of performance. Looking for quiet cards seems like a frustrating thing to do lol. And I wouldn't want to spend more than 250€/$275.
