What's a good graphics card substitute

I have all of the components that i plan on getting for my first PC build and for my graphics card i choose the AMD Radeon R9 270X, i think this is a little much for what i plan on doing (gaming such as battlefield 3-4, cod, far cry) i was told by someone on the forums that this card would be more than enough for just about anything i plan on doing with it. Now that i have all of my pieces im looking for ways to cut back a little bit on the total without losing TOO much performance, so some alternatives that are a little bit less money, but close to the same performance, would be great!

Just keep the 270x. There aren't any cards I can find that can match it without losing much performance besides the 750 ti, and that card falls way short of the 270x from what I've seen. You can go with the gtx 760, however, it costs more and you're looking to spend less, so it's really whatever you wanna do.

270X is the entry for medium-high-ultra settings combination. However, you can`t expect your settings to be all in maximum but you need to adjust your settings to get the best performance.
