whats a good temp for the r9 290

so i got the HIS r9 290 little bit ago found out through AMD cata it run 95C got target gpu temp and 47% max fan speed. So when i was playing bf4 is would go black found out through temp to shut down for not over heating. now i have target GPU temp at 80% and fan speed at 55% is there something i should change or make it run better. Some people are saying set fan speed 100 and some are saying its fine i just dont wanna destroy my pc

From what I understand the 290 is a hot card. It typically hovers between 80-90C. Cranking up the fan profile and ensuring your case has good airflow will help.

EDIT: I am assuming it has a reference cooler?

idk what you mean by that i havent changed anything i have stock cooler on in if that helps

Okay you have a stock (reference) cooler. They stock cooled 290's are known to get hot. It was actually a fairly big launch concern
