I am a college student and I need a solid laptop for general internet-browsing and films. I'll dual-boot Windows and Ubuntu. I am an animation student, so it has to be powerful enough to run modern software. Plus, I don't want big or small screen sizes, just the average sizes.

I want good battery backup (around 5 hours maybe?) and a good processor. High-end graphics and gaming aren't important for me. I won't heat the CPU much either.

So in short: I want an everyday use laptop with average screen size, reliable processor, good battery backup and I'll mostly be using internet browsers. I don't need much HDD space either, 500GB will do. I would rarely play any games.

You'll be studying engineering, so you'll need a higher end PC. $1000 isn't a realistic price. My school uses Lenovo laptops, and mine was $1995. I wouldn't skimp on the price because you're sacrificing computing power you need for math, science, and engineering programs. Maybe shell out a little more for a Lenovo,
