i want to buy a new laptop.. i have a omen 15 with specs listed above and 16gb ram. my budget is around 1500 but i dont want to spend that for only 10% or 15% speed increase.

Yeah, thats better.
Has a better GPU alongside a 300Hz display.

I see many complaints about gaming laptops not performing well.
Usually gaming while plugged in.
One common cause is thermal throttling.
Laptop coolers must, of necessity be small and light.
They are also relatively underpowered.

If you need portability, buy a laptop.
Otherwise good gaming is better done on a desktop.
That said, since graphics card prices are insane, there is a decent argument for laptop graphics pr a pre built desktop.

As a test,
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

On your current laptop, run HWinfo or similar while gaming.
you will get the current, minimum, and maximum cpu temperatures.
For intel processors, if you see a max of 100c. it means you have throttled.
The cpu will lower it's multiplier and power draw to protect itself
until the situation reverses.

I'm not really sure what this has to do with anything I was asking about. I already have a gaming rig this is specifically for my laptop. I have no interest in my current laptop
