Will have computer running 24/7, mainly for botting purposes (WoW, runescape) and there is absolutely no use for me to turn off my computer when I'm not using it anyway. I'm looking at the Hyper 212 Evo because I hear that higher end coolers (NH-D15) will only cool a couple degrees better. Are those couple degrees really worth $70 more? What about water cooling, can I get some benchmarks or stats to show me how much more effective a $100 water cooler is when I could buy over 3 hyper 212 evo's?

Solution

I went with the Noctua NH-U12S on my PC (same processor as you), which is 60% more expensive than the Hyper 212 EVO over here (£50 vs £30 - actually, marginally more than the cost of the Noctua NF-F12 fan). My CPU is running at around 23C idle, and under 60C under load. I would imagine the Hyper 212 will give you similar numbers - it's a very competant cooler.

However, where the more expensive cooler wins is noise - I don't hear the fan running (Fractal Design Define R4 case), and it's rated at ~22dB at full speed. By comparison, the Hyper 212's fan is rated at...

Oh boy... I bought a psu hastily because it was on promo, but it was only 620W when I thought it was 650W. Now I need to RMA it. I then went to microcenter and bought this one for $50. Can you tell me why it isn't such a good psu?

The 750w supernova is a great PSU made by superflower
The 750w supernova NEX is a fairly average PSU made by FSP, and not recommended for an overclocking rig

Why is it not recommended? What makes that power supply better than NEX? Both 750W and the bronze rating doesn't matter because you can't justify the price you pay for the extra dollar savings a year. Is one more prone to spontaneous combustion than the other? :??:

By comparison, the Hyper 212's fan is rated at ~36dB, and has the same/very similar air flow and static pressure specs. Obviously, this may or may not be a concern for you.

Had a good laugh at that one - it is the only person I can find that their nex 750B exploded. It has at least 4 stars on the majority of good sites and as long as it does its job, that's good enough for me. Hope I'm not the 1% that had it explode. ;~;
