Whats best for distance and tree obstruction routers or antennas?

Living in a rural wooded area and need to extend my wifi. Is there such a thing or will the trees impede the signal
 
How you extend it will depend on the distance involved.
Naturally, running a cable it the best option for a stable connection, but you're limited to 100m tops (about 300ft).
If it's more than that, then consider a point-point wifi link. The equipment is not too expensive and you can get ranges up to several kilometers (miles). Once they're aimed properly you should get a great link with little interference from said trees. Bear in mind it is wifi and will be subject to the usual environmental issues like interference from radio sources, the weather, etc.
